Problem
Vaping addiction among young New Zealanders is rising, with daily vapers tripling over recent years.
Over 60% of vapers want to quit, but they face significant challenges: a lack of personalised support and effective quit-vaping solutions to help them overcome their addiction.
My role
Designed a functional iOS app prototype to help users quit vaping. Led both explorative and evaluative UX research, UI design, and prototyping.
Simultaneously using my personal experience of quitting vaping to shape empathetic, human-centered solutions.
Result
Created a mobile app with progress tracking, educational resources, community support, and continuous encouragement.
From my research, I found that:
When viewing their dashboard, 100% of participants immediately understood the potential health and financial benefits of quitting.
70% stated they would want to use an app like this if it were available while quitting their nicotine addiction.
Participants felt that the app was motivating and could genuinely support them in overcoming their addiction.
